# Saol

The trading hub of the world lies within Saol. Convenient for all three mainland continents, Saol has a massive port and an even bigger trading district for people throughout the world of [Domhain](/the-unintentional-calamity/history/domhain.md) to share goods and take up residence to enjoy the towns entertainment. Built upon trade, Saol’s culture has developed around this very mentality. Gambling brings hope to anyone hoping to jump-start their career or reach their dreams. Almost anything can be achieved for the right price. What might be the most amazing part of this bustling town is the lack of authoritative figure. Everyone provides counsel over trades, and unspoken rules dictate what is and isn’t allowed in town. A lack of structure provides more opportunities to benefit and be burned by the system. Above all other rules, weapons are not allowed in the trading district. A specific arms district was created to handle such affairs and has been maintained for as far as anyone can remember. Due to the distance and lack of arms sales, Modarians tend to shy away from the trading district.

While the [Schools of Reasoning](/the-unintentional-calamity/history/schools-of-reasoning.md) have their main base of operations in this town, within their own academic district, scholars often travel elsewhere to conduct their work as for peace and quiet that is seldom found in this town that never sleeps. The [School of Technology](/the-unintentional-calamity/history/school-of-technology.md) has the largest presence, constantly working with traders to trade and develop new technology. Most recently, the biggest innovation has been the [Farreach Bridge](/the-unintentional-calamity/landmarks/farreach-bridge.md), a project that aims to connect the three continents allowing for more trade and prosperity. The project has been worked on for generations and failed time and time again due to the vicious storms that appear in the middle of [The Great Scar](/the-unintentional-calamity/landmarks/the-great-scar.md).
