Description

At a very young age Lin was always unable to focus on one thing for an extended period of time. While Lin's parents were supportive of their child's wide interests, they were worried that this trait would not be widely accepted. The people of Modara were often specialized in specific crafts thus making focus a rather important. Children who did not hold long attention spans were unfortunately often bound to become outcasts. When Lin turned 13, their parents proposed that they travel to Saol to study in the school of technology. Studying in one of the busiest towns in the world was bound to capture Lin's attention. After a heartfelt goodbye, Lin willingly traveled by boat from the coasts of Modara, down The Great Scar, and docked at Saol.

While Lin was quite skeptical at first of the idea, they soon found the city to be the perfect fit. Lin attended the School of Technology finding it easy to swap between many projects. By the time Lin was 15, they were able to start working on projects that would further the development of the city itself. Lin excelled as a student taking on multiple projects at once. Eventually at age 18, Lin became an integral part of the city. Many of the trading districts relied on Lin's creative solutions to fix whatever issues arrived.

One fateful day on Lin's 19th birthday, they were working on a project to help extend Saol's civilian district closer to the Last Stand Ruins. The project was easy to take on as most other students of technology did not dare take on a project involving a cursed place. Lin was unable to stop themselves from finding out why the place had such a bad reputation. In order to get a better idea of the land the civilian district would be expanding into, Lin visited the area just west of the Last Stand Ruins. Immediately Lin was drawn towards the ruins, and rather than working on the project Lin decided to investigate the cursed land. As most black market traders had seen, Lin discovered many broken buildings, charred walls, and the well located at the center of the ruins. Like so many before, Lin also noticed the piles of bones that surrounded the well. Unlike so many before, Lin decided to explore what exactly was in that well by going down the well that dried out many years ago. What Lin found was completely unexpected. An underground cave spanned much wider and taller than any cave the School of Nature had observed. Inside the colossal cave was technology unlike anything Lin had seen.

Although most of the artifacts of the ancient technology had long disintegrated, Lin did find one light red, glowing artifact. Unsure of what the artifact was, Lin took it home to study it further in secret. Unlike most modern technology, this artifact appeared to be indestructible. All the tools of the School of Technology were not enough to force the artifact open to reveal the contents of the artifact. It took months for Lin to finally solve the locking mechanism opening up the artifact revealing a strange fluid. Touching the fluid imbued Lin was the gift of Taisteal magic along with the scattered memories that remained of the Umana who created the device. Lin became overwhelmed by the transfer of memories and the new power flowing through their veins.

In an attempt to avoid any fear they might bring showing off their new powers, Lin took residence in the forest just west of the Last Stand Ruins. In seclusion, Lin tried their powers while trying to make sense of a hectic, confusing past that had been dumped into their brain. A year later Lin returned to Saol claiming they had took a much needed vacation to visit their parents, keeping the artifact (named Last Hope) and their new found Taisteal magic a complete secret.
