# Scath

When the plague infects humans, it usually disintegrates their body into ash. The effects on Umana similar to most animals on the planet. (There are still some animals and plant life that live, but the rate is very low.) If a human is lucky enough, they will not disintegrate, but instead transform into another life form.

Unlike humans, Scath have the ability to control matter by mending or breaking connections between molecules. This gives them the [ability to heal](/the-unintentional-calamity/magic/atheagru.md), or make things disintegrate (destruction) such as the plague that infected them.

The appearance of the Scath are quite terrifying, as they often look like shadows of their previous selves. Their skin color is faded to a blackish gray and their eyes colors are inverted. Hair on a Skia has a tendency to float upwards as it constantly mending and breaking from excess, untrained and untapped magical power. They do look like Umana, but they are shadows of their previous selves.
