Description

Lorcan's family comes from a long line of successful merchants that originates back to the founding of Saol itself. Due to this intense, consistent lineage, there was a lot of pressure put on Lorcan by his parents to continue the tradition. While Lorcan was not opposed to the idea of becoming a successful merchant, he was motivated more by earning more money than by practicing the trade.

Unfortunately for Lorcan, by the time he grew up to be a young adult the School of Technology was making significant advances that would hurt his business. In an attempt to combat the lack of customers, Lorcan shifted the family tradition from being strictly merchants to investing money into Saol's council which might sway their laws to favor merchants over the School of Reasoning. This decision was pivotal in helping Lorcan eventually achieve greater business than his family had ever seen by restricting the dependence and influence of the School of Technology. The only project he funded in support of the School of Technology was the Farreach Bridge which could potentially increase trade for all merchants.

When Lorcan successfully swayed some of council successfully, he did not stop spreading his influence. Eventually Lorcan became a leader concerned with more than just merchants. In order to increase spending for his particular business, Lorcan increased the standard of living for everyone and forced any business to abide by strict guidelines that choked poor parts of the population out of Saol. While many admire Lorcan for molding Saol into a the beautiful town it is today, others scorn Lorcan for kicking out the less fortunate.

As Lorcan spread his influence into the council, he created a great divide within the town of Saol. Many who benefited from Lorcan's vision support his increased influence on the rules that affected them, while others believed he was overstepping his influential boundaries. This decisive nature has led to many failed assassination attempts.
