Snamh

Meaning: Swim | Pronunciation: [sn-oh]

Snamh are the most resilient creature that lives in the water just by their ability to swim up the toughest rivers. Five fins are attached equidistantly around the circumference of the body and can propel a Snamh half as fast as an Eitilt. Their speed protects them from most predators, but it comes at a cost. The fins of a Snamh grow back very slowly, so if any fin is damaged the speed of a Snamh is compromised.

Despite the ability to move fast, Snamh seldom have to migrate. The creature can handle most climates, even freezing water, without issue. Through their adaptive nature Snamh tend to live in more extreme climates or fast flowing rivers to avoid predators.

One of the most interesting aspects of a Snamh is the tail. Unexpectedly, the tail of a Snamh looks like a normal fin, but it has the ability to change shape and expand or contract at will. Many Snamh tend to sleep with their tail expanding to cover most of their body, making it look like they are sleeping in an egg. The School of Nature suspects that Snamh feel most comfortable in enclosed space due to this phenomenon.
